We last visited Avebury in November 2012, late in the afternoon when the Sun in all his grandeur sat much lower in the English Sky .
It had been the end of a perfect weekend away- we had been to Glastonbury Somerset, for a fabulous weekend away .
Avebury Sacred Tree… Ancient roots and branches tied with ribbons and pieces of cloth ties on to it- These can be seen to be Knot Magic/Prayers or just Offerings to the Tree Spirit of the Gods/Goddess of this Ancient Landscape. What ever you believe, I do like them.. and have no problems with people tying them there as long as they are organic, no plastic or metal please
There is more to Avebury than just the Stone,s as stunning as they are – there is a lovely village and a fabulous Manor House- which is on our list to visits the next time we are there
At the end of May2013,. we were in Glastonbury again – this time for the Hekate Symposium 2013.
6 month later the sun is much higher and so I thought I would share a few of the photos I took this time…
One thing to remember is that is a living and working landscape… an that people still make their living here as they have done for thousands of years…
As we left and headed North and Home, we drove past fields and fields of Rapeseed.. it’s yellow heads and the blue sky the epitome of English Summers and they looked rather good too!
